Come travelling with me…

Wandering to Warwick

So, I tried to walk to Warwick (about 3 miles) along the river walk, canal and various off-road paths, which is what I used to do quite frequently 20 years ago. But I had to give up. I managed some of it, but once I left town it was grotty and overgrown, and the path didn’t go where I wanted (to find some small villages and ruins). I ended up walking along the roads (with hat and water bottle in the sun) to Warwick Castle instead.

The town of Warwick had some cute little streets, and the East Gate is for sale (12th century build originally, now a 2 bedroom place). I didn’t go in to the castle (or take any decent photos of it), having seen it before and preferring to sit in the shade with an ice cream late in the afternoon (yes, ice creams are going to be a recurring theme).

I caught a bus back to Leam. More brilliant public transport systems, though the bus driver did take a wrong turn, curse, apologise to the bus (for the wrong turn, not the swearing) and then did a u-turn at the next round about. A double decker bus going through the tight suburban streets was interesting – we went up and down more than a few curbs.

this is for sale if anyone has a spare 600,000 pounds…
