Come travelling with me…

A Sample of Singapore

I overnighted in Singapore on my way from Christchurch to London. So, no time for city exploring (saving that for the return journey), but I did appreciate a stroll after ten hours sitting in a plane. From my hotel in Terminal 3, I walked the 5-10 mins stroll to the Jewel in Changi Airport’s Terminal 1.

The Jewel is a weird (but pretty) combination of world’s largest indoor waterfall (7 stories), plus biodome, shopping centre and restaurants. It was hot and humid (orchids happily growing naturally), and the space had LED lights on waterfalls, and plenty of tourists dragging suitcases and taking selfies. Plus the orchestral music coming from speakers hidden in the plants….. it felt a bit like I was in imperial star wars senate or something, but with plants.

And in a little bit of living in the robot future – self driving chairs take people to their gates = great invention, and it’s entertaining watching them drive back empty to their home base. But it’s even funnier when they get stuck together, with both of them beeping and saying “excuse me, please step aside”. [They were later rescued by a human staffer].
